Effective Solutions. Professional Care. This is what Cheryl Simmons has extended to people for over thirty-five years. She holds a BA degree from Baylor University and a Master of Science in Social Work degree from The University of Texas at Arlington. Among her many credentials, Cheryl is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Prior to establishing her individual, couples and family counseling practice in 1984, she served several years in clinical counseling centers, M. D. Anderson Hospital and was an assistant professor at Houston Baptist University, teaching social work, psychology and sociology. Cheryl’s warm and accepting style of counseling, consulting and teaching continues to transform the lives of men, women, children and families.
Cheryl provides hope, healing and solutions for adults experiencing depression and anxiety, eating or sexual problems, marital conflict and stress in the workplace. She also counsels families with children experiencing low self-esteem, rebellion or shyness, trauma from accident or abuse and under-achievement at school.
In addition to her practice, Cheryl served 12 years as a Member of the Board of Yellowstone Academy, an inner-city faith-based school serving Houston’s poorest children and on the Board of Advocates for the Diana R. Garland School of Social Work at Baylor University.
As a popular and entertaining conference, radio (regularly on KHCB), television, and event speaker, Cheryl is sought after by schools, churches, civic groups, and businesses to speak on a variety of topics which include: Stress Management, Improving Relationships at Home and Work, How to Raise Strong Children in a Tough World, Effective Communication Skills, Team-Building, Caring for Aging Parents, and Alcohol/Drug Awareness for Teens.
